Wow - I can't believe how
quickly this year is flying by. I was in the process of updating my website and
I was shocked to see that I haven't written in blog in over 6 months! How
did this happen? I guess I'm just having too much fun!
Our resort |
I'd love to give you a little update about my
two fantastic weeks this summer in Bimini, swimming with wild dolphins. This is
the seventh year that I've taken groups there and it just gets better and
better. We stay at a lovely resort on the north island and cruise around in a
gorgeous catamaran for 6-7 hours every day looking for dolphins. When we find
them, well actually THEY find us, we see if they are interested in a close
encounter and if so, we get into the water. We are very respectful of their
space and most of the time they hang around and interact with us.
Our boat |
How do they interact? If
you can dive down and do something interesting, they love to follow you and
spin around you. If you're like me, a total cork on the surface, they
make a point of coming over and looking you straight in the eye. Often they are
in a social mood and playing with each other and we are able to observe them
doing what dolphins do: feeding, playing, having sex, resting and just goofing
around.
There are two different
types of dolphins that we encounter in Bimini: Atlantic spotted dolphins and
Bottlenose dolphins. The spotted have a reputation for being more interactive
and playful, but I've seen the Bottlenose becoming more and more interested in
us over the years. I enjoy spending time with both types. I love the
"zippy" energy of the spotted and the deep quiet energy of the
Bottlenose. And sometimes, when we are very lucky, we can find ourselves in a
group that includes both types. They love to socialize together and are even
producing a new species, lovingly called Spottlenose!
There was a day on my
second trip this June, when we were with a group of about 30 spotted dolphins
and a few Bottlenose. I was just snorkeling along, when I found myself
completely surrounded by dolphins. They were in front of me, under me, on both
sides of me and behind me. All I could see was spotted dolphin skin! It was a
moment that I will remember forever... so special.
From that special day |
I love taking people on
these adventures. Being in the presence of whales and dolphins changes you
deeply. They open your heart, give you unconditional love and raise your
consciousness. Looking into a dolphin's eye is a timeless experience and you
feel their wisdom and love filling you. It's not unusual for people to cry or
laugh, and always you feel this deep sense of peace and contentment. I always
tell people that if you want to raise your consciousness, spend time with
whales and dolphins - it's the easiest way!
Is swimming with wild
dolphins on your bucket list? Don't put off your dreams! Come with me for a week
or two to Bimini next year and find out for yourself just how magical these
beings are. I’ll be there June 5-11, 2016 and June 12-18, 2016.
Just call me at 941-752-5761 for all the
details. I’d love to share this adventure with you.
